Here's How!

The Thoroughbred Magic Guild is an organization of performers and/or lovers of the art and science of magic as entertainment. Although a major goal of the guild is the recruitment of new members (both youth and adult), full membership is restricted to those who meet the following criteria:

1. Attendance at the portion of the "open portion" of the monthly meetings at least three times in six months. ( The open portion of consists of business and social announcements, limited discussion, and magic performances by the members. It is followed by the "Closed Portion", restricted to members only.)

2. Completion of APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP form. (The information requested is not used as a basis for automatically accepting or rejecting an applicant. It is primarily for informational purposes.)

3. Interview with one or more of the officers. This interview is not intended to test your current skill in magic, but rather to get to know you and to test your degree of interest, commitment, and positive attitude towards magic.

4. Performance of three effects of magic during the "open portion" of the meeting. One of these effects must involve sleight of hand. While member magicians are certainly willing to offer advice and encouragement to applicants preparing for this presentation, the applicant is expected to take individual responsibility for procuring the materials, learning the effects, and routining and practicing their presentation. If you are more interested in manufacturing apparatus, studying magic from an historical perspective, or learning to appreciate magic as an art form, the officers may approve a lecture, demonstration, instead of a performance.

5. Personal written pledge to reveal no secrets of magic, except for educational purposes(in a formal magic class) or sharing information with other established or novice magicians.

6. Upon approval of membership, payment of yearly guild dues of $20.00 (prorated to coincide with the July date for yearly dues).
